From San Francisco, cross the Golden Gate Bridge and head north on Highway 101. Take the exit for Highway 1 (Shoreline Highway) toward Stinson Beach/Muir Woods. Follow Highway 1 for about 10 miles as it winds along the coast. You’ll see the signed turnoff for Muir Beach on your right, right before the Pelican Inn.

Park in the main lot (it’s free but fills up fast on sunny weekends). From the parking area, cross the pedestrian bridge over the lagoon and head down to the beach. Once on the sand, simply walk north (to your right). You’ll pass some rocks and a low old seawall — that’s the natural divider. The clothing-optional section (Little Muir) sits in the smaller, more sheltered cove just beyond.

Quick Tips:
– Arrive early on nice days for parking.
– Wear sturdy shoes if you’re crossing the rocks.
– There are restrooms near the parking lot, but none on the beach itself.
